FreshRole is a product operated by TECHPODS. All references to "we", "us", and "our" in this document mean TECHPODS. Payments are processed by Paddle as our merchant of record — any charges related to FreshRole will appear on your card or bank statement as TECHPODS (via Paddle).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information FreshRole — a service operated by TECHPODS — collects, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. It applies to everyone who uses our website, waitlist, or paid service. TECHPODS is the data controller for the personal data described below.

1. Information we collect

We collect: (a) information you give us directly — your email address when you join the waitlist or create an account, your role and country preferences when you set alerts, and your name and billing details if you subscribe to Pro; (b) information collected automatically when you use the service — your browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, and approximate location derived from your IP; and (c) information from third parties — payment confirmation data from our payment processor when you subscribe.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to: provide and operate FreshRole; send you job alerts via the channels you choose (email, Telegram); process payments and prevent fraud; respond to your support requests; send service announcements (such as outages or material changes to these terms); and improve the product through aggregated, non-identifying analytics. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use your data to train third-party AI models.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA, we process your personal data on the following legal bases: performance of the contract between you and us (to operate the service and deliver alerts); your consent (for marketing emails, where applicable, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to keep the service secure and to improve it); and legal obligations (such as tax record-keeping).

4. Service providers we share data with

TECHPODS shares the minimum data necessary with carefully selected sub-processors: MongoDB Atlas (database hosting, where account data is stored), Vercel (web hosting), our email delivery provider (to send transactional alerts and account emails), and Paddle (acting as our merchant of record for billing — Paddle handles card data; TECHPODS never sees your full card number). Each sub-processor is contractually bound to handle your data in line with this policy and applicable law.

5. International data transfers

Our sub-processors operate globally, which means your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms to protect your data.

6. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel and do not return, we keep your saved alerts and preferences for 90 days, then remove non-essential personal data. Billing records are kept for the period required by tax and accounting law (typically 6–7 years). You can delete your account at any time from Account settings → Delete account.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the product is used in aggregate — these do not identify you personally. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

8. Your rights

You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct it if it's wrong; delete it (subject to legal retention obligations); export it in a portable format; restrict or object to certain processing; and withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email support@freshrole.co. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

FreshRole is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic, encryption at rest for the database, scoped credentials with the principle of least privilege, and regular review of our access controls. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect a security issue, please report it to support@freshrole.co.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email or an in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
